Kandon Place

The Kandon Place, is a new design from Frank Betz Associates. We designed the house to be a sensible starter home. The floor plan is very efficient. The second floor is stacked over the first floor using every bit of available square footage.
The first floor has a very open layout with no walls between the kitchen, dining and family room; one can flow easily between them. In the family room the fireplace shares its focus with a built in media cabinet. The dining area is large enough to host a large family gathering. The kitchen has a serving bar at the island for informal meals or for friends to gather around. A mud room serves as a transition to the garage with a bench and shelves that act as a drop zone for book bags and coats.
The second floor has four bedrooms all with large walk-in closets. The laundry room is conveniently located near all the bedrooms. At the top of the stairs there is a decorative furniture niche as well as a window seat with built-in shelves on either side.
The façade has a large welcoming porch with decorative boxed columns. The windows have a craftsman detail with grilles in the upper sash accented by a contrasting paint color. The roof is set off by a large gable and two dormers breaking the line of the fascia to give it character.

New-Home Shortage Leading to ‘Dramatic’ Housing Recovery, Fortune Story Concludes
Based on market fundamentals, housing is headed for a comeback this year and in some nondistressed markets housing prices will start overtaking the pace of general inflation, according to a March 28 story in Fortune magazine advising its readers that “the most attractive asset class in America is housing.”
